Weekly EmpowerMENt – Anti-Street Harassment Week Edition.

This one is right in time for International Anti-Street Harassment Week.

You and a group of your [male/man] friends are walking down the street on your college campus to grab some lunch. One of your friends nudges you and gets the attention of the other guys in the group to look at two women about to walk past all of you. He points at on of the women and says, “Dude, what I wouldn’t do to get bang the one on the right” to the group as they walk by and he turns around completely to watch them as they pass your group. You see that the women are feeling intimidated and they look down and walk faster.

A friend of yours is choosing an intern to work in a complicated, fast paced environment. He shows you the applicants he has narrowed it down to and tells you that he really likes one particular woman for the job but worries that the pressure will be too much for her as a woman, and he is considering choosing a man with much less experience with the assumption that he’s better cut out for the stress.

Weekly EmpowerMENt #6

You know that a friend of yours went on a date that she had been very excited about. You ask her about it later in the week and she tells you that it didn’t go too well. When you ask for more details, she mumbles something about her date being too pushy. You try to get her to tell you more but she cuts you off and says “You’re a man. You wouldn’t get it.” What do you do?
